Hillsboro

Hillsboro, OR, with a population of about 90,000 is the 5th largest city in the State of Oregon and the county seat of Washington County. It is the center of the Oregon Silicon Forest, located about 17 miles west of downtown Portland. Bigger arteries to this friendly town are Sunset Highway (Hwy 26), Tualatin Valley Highway, Evergreen Parkway and Baseline Road. Max train operated by Tri-Met Light Rail System runs from Hillsboro with many stops through Downtown Portland to the east side as far as Gresham. Home prices in the older neighborhoods are more modest while newer subdivision start around $300,000. Newer estate-size homes scattered in the surrounding hills with acreage start around $700,000 and up. Either way, real estate and homes for sale in Hillsboro are a great value these days.

Downtown Hillsboro offers quaint shops and boutiques next to newly constructed art center, parking garage, fire station and post office. Few years older are the court house, city office building and prison buildings. Hillsboro operates an airport for smaller planes for the Portland area.
